I wanted to close out the 2015 Open by saying that I am very proud of everyone that participated in this year's Open. A year later, a year wiser, and a little bigger, we had 79 people register!!! That is incredible....and that was just the start. With the addition of the Scaled division, we had much more approachable options on a weekly basis for everyone and we had people in both Rx and Scaled divisions laying it out there every single week. Even those that were not signed up attacked these WODs with the valor as if they were signed up. Every single person that participated gave it everything they had. I am incredibly pleased with the level of support this community shows for each other on a daily basis, and it was highlighted during the Open with excitement and passion of helping your friends battle through a difficult physical and mental challenge. Our Friday Night Fights were a BLAST! Thank you. I can't wait for that next year. That's my favorite part of the Open. Thank you for taking pride in our community and making Friday nights a priority so that more people were able to share that energy and excitement. Thank you for not complaining (too much) about some of the prescribed movements for each division....it is what it is and there isn't anything we can do to change what Castro asks us to do. We just show up, dig in, and go after it with everything we have. There were so many inspiring moments the last five weeks, I'd be here all night listing them out. Seriously. I am not joking around when I tell you that there were multiple times during this open where I was on the brink of tears I was so happy for some of you and what you were able to accomplish. There were so many people that were able to do things that they never thought they could do. Don't stop there. That's one of the reasons we love this sport, because almost every day we leave The Swamp, there's a voice in our head that says, "Wow, I can't believe I just did that." And then we show up again the next day...and surprise ourselves again.
As you walk away from this Open, I want you to reflect on ALL of the positive aspects of this experience for you as an individual and build on them. I also want you to take away a few things that "bug" you about this open...maybe it was a decision you made, or a way that you approached a workout, or a movement that you feel like you should have down, etc. Take those things and turn them into positives. Allow them to make you a better CrossFitter. If you truly care about improving them, then do it. Don't make excuses. You have the means to do so.
Just Show Up. 1% Better Every Day. This Shit Works.
